About Whitespace & Invisible Character Cleaner

Whitespace & Invisible Character Cleaner tidies the parts of text you cannot see: trailing spaces, zero-width characters, bidi controls, non-breaking spaces, odd tab usage, and curly punctuation.

It scans first and shows what it found, then applies only the fixes you tick. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Paste your text. The scan line lists anything unusual.
  2. Tick the clean-up steps you want.
  3. Click Clean text, then copy the result.

Common questions

What counts as an invisible character?

Zero-width space, zero-width joiner and non-joiner, the byte-order mark, soft hyphen, left-to-right and right-to-left marks, and the bidi embedding and override controls.

Will it change characters I want to keep?

Only the options you tick run. Straighten curly quotes, for example, is off by default because some writing needs them.

Does it touch line endings?

The scan reports CRLF endings. Converting them is handled by the Line Break Tools.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The clean-up runs in your browser.
