Subtitle Timing Fixer help

When captions are a second ahead of the audio, or were made for a film at a different frame rate, this nudges every cue at once. The file is read in the page and never uploaded.

Steps

1. Drop an .srt or .vtt file.
2. Set the shift in seconds. A negative number makes the subtitles appear earlier. The buttons nudge by 0.1 and 1 second.
3. If the timing drifts more the further in you go, tick "rescale for a frame-rate change" and pick the from and to rates.
4. Choose the output format, or keep the input format.
5. Check the preview, then save.

Frame-rate presets

25 to 23.976 is the common one for a PAL subtitle used with an NTSC film. The reverse, 23.976 to 25, is the other direction. The tool multiplies every timestamp by the ratio of the two rates.

Limits

• SRT and WebVTT only. SSA/ASS and SBV are not read.
• WebVTT styling blocks and region definitions are dropped. Per-cue position settings are kept.
• The shift is uniform. It cannot fix a file where only part of the timing is wrong.
