Common questions
What is a good Flesch Reading Ease score?
Around 60 to 70 is plain English suitable for a general audience. Below 30 is hard going, above 90 is very simple.
Why do the grade formulas disagree?
Each weighs sentence length and word difficulty differently. The tool also shows an average of them.
Does it work for other languages?
The formulas and the syllable rules are tuned for English, so results for other languages are not meaningful.
Does anything leave my browser?
No. The tool runs entirely on this page.
