Common questions

Is the list complete?

No. It covers common document, image, audio, video, font, and archive types. Rare or vendor-specific types may be missing.

Why does one type have several extensions?

Some formats have more than one common extension, like jpg and jpeg. The first one listed is the usual choice.

What is the port table for?

Quick reference when reading firewall rules or connection strings: 443 is HTTPS, 5432 is PostgreSQL, and so on.

Does anything leave my browser?
