HTML Entities Encode / Decode help
Convert between plain text and HTML entities, both directions, as you type.
Encode
- Named where possible uses
©,—, and so on, falling back to a numeric reference for characters with no name in the table. - Minimal escapes only
& < > " '— enough to be safe in HTML while leaving accented letters readable. - Numeric writes every non-ASCII and markup character as
&#NN;.
Decode
Handles named entities, decimal references ( ), and hex references ( ). Unknown names and malformed references are left untouched.
Notes
- The named table covers Latin-1, common punctuation and symbols, Greek letters, arrows, and currency — the characters people actually paste.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter or drop is uploaded.
